Are you a foundation, company, or an organization that is interested in broadening participation in STEM and expanding access to STEM careers? The Amgen Biotech Experience (ABE) is a unique program that addresses key scientific content and curriculum standards while reducing the mystique around “real-world” science, making it accessible to teachers and their students, all at no cost to schools.
There are 3 ways to support ABE:
- Funding an affiliate ABE Program Site
- Donating money to support ABE programming
- Offering discounts to ABE site purchasing kit materials
Funding an Affiliate ABE Program Site
While the Amgen Foundation has supported ABE in Amgen communities worldwide for 30 years, we are now seeking to identify others who will bring this high quality STEM experience to additional U.S. communities as we look toward growing the program for the next 30 years and expanding our reach in high-need areas.
With funding from philanthropic organizations such as yours, the ABE program can continue to inspire young people to embrace biotechnology and STEM. Specifically, that funding will support a local host organization that will recruit, train, and support high school teachers in the program. Interested funders can identify an organization that meets the criteria in the ABE Request for Qualifications, or the ABE Program Office can identify such an organization in geographic areas where funders wish to work.
To discuss how you can fund the ABE program in an area, please contact Rebecca Lewis, Director, ABE Program Office (rlewis@edc.org).
Donations
Every dollar counts! ABE accepts monetary donations that can go towards purchasing kit materials, supporting professional development for teachers, and more. Please contact ABEInfo@edc.org if you are interested in supporting ABE.
Discounts on Equipment & Materials
Does your company make scientific equipment or life sciences reagents? We appreciate any discounts and donations made to our program sites so that they can reach more students!
