This month, we want to give a shout-out to one of our most passionate ABE and STEM ambassadors. Dr. Candice Johnson comes to our program with deep experience in genomics research, host-pathogen interactions and vaccine development, and even a stint working in the US Food and Drug Administration in the Office of Vaccine Research and Review (a pretty valuable skill set these days!). However, we are most grateful for the tireless work she has done to help us bring ABE to a virtual world. 

During this turbulent time of unpredictable school closures and inaccessible labs, Candice has been busy creating teaching videos for the ABE Course 1 blended PDI; creating mini-kit experiences for students to try at home; and bringing her insights, questions, and ideas to the ABE Equity, Access, and Engagement working group. It’s not easy to keep the ABE ship sailing when the seas around you are constantly changing, but Candice has been a huge part of helping us set our course in the right direction. Thanks for everything you do to strengthen ABE, Candice!
