Vijay Kale:
Applying Veterinary Science to Human Health

When he was a child Vijay Kale said he had some interest in science, especially in biology, but didn't know he would be a scientist one day. "I really didn't know that there is a field called research," he says. "I always thought that scientists were something different, with two antennas. ...I never thought of myself as a scientist." Now a toxicologist at Amgen, Kale reflects on his career path, including his higher education in veterinary science and pathology and his transition from veterinary work to working in human health.
