ABE Turkey was recently highlighted in a Capital.com.tr article. The article covers a recent media event to launch the ABE program in Turkey. The article begins:
The ABE Program, in its 31st year, is implemented by the Amgen Foundation to create a passion for science in students. It was also launched in Turkey to give teachers and students the opportunity to learn and truly apply the applications and techniques that form the basis of the biotechnology industry.Within the scope of ABE Turkey, which is carried out by the Development Workshop Cooperative (KA), cooperation is being made with Middle East Technical University (METU) in order to train teachers to bring the innovative biotechnology curriculum to their classrooms and spread it throughout the country. In addition, professional development opportunities and laboratory equipment and materials required by the curriculum are provided free of charge so that science teachers working in secondary schools can implement real biotechnology laboratories in their classrooms. The launch of the program in Turkey was held online on 14 April 2021 with the participation of Amgen Foundation Director Scott Heimlich and ABE Program Office Director Rebecca Lewis, hosted by Amgen and Gensenta General Manager Güldem Berkman and Development Workshop Secretary General Ertan Karabayik.
