Susan Turkovich's high-school Forensics class at the Academy of Notre Dame has been using specialized biotech equipment from Harvard University through the Amgen Biotech Experience program to complete DNA-extraction labs. The girls were able to extract their DNA with a mouth swab and analyze it using the equipment, as would be done during a crime-scene investigation, as well as analyze it for evolutionary relationships.
